What is Trauma-Informed Counseling and Healthcare?

[Episode 25 of the Intentional Clinician Podcast]

Listen to Paul Krauss MA LPC discuss the many aspects of trauma-informed counseling and healthcare. Paul talks about frequently asked questions that he has heard regarding trauma-informed care. Some of the questions discussed in this episode are: What is trauma? Have I, or someone I know, experienced emotional or psychological trauma? What are traumatic events? What can happen to someone after they suffer from a traumatic event? What is trauma-informed care and counseling? How is a trauma-informed therapist different from standard counseling? Why is trauma-informed counseling important? Are there trauma-specific interventions that don’t require a great deal of talking? If I don’t identify as having experienced traumatic events, may I still participate in therapy with a trauma-informed therapist? What does the relief of symptoms caused by trauma involve? Is it true that Anxiety, Anger, Depression, Relationship Issues, and more can be rooted in past traumatic experiences? And many more. Paul discusses in detail all of the above questions.

In addition, this episode discusses multiple trauma-specific interventions in addition to standard counseling, including EMDR Therapy, Somatic Experience Therapy, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and more.
