Meet Joshua Nave MA LLMSW

My name is Joshua Nave, and I am one of the Trauma Therapists here at Health for Life Grand Rapids. I specialize in infant/toddler mental health (birth to 5), early childhood development, and child/adult trauma. The primary therapy interventions I utilize are: Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Narrative Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Parenting Skills, and Mindfulness Based Stress-Reduction Therapy. I have a Bachelor of Arts from Huntington University, and a Master of Social Work from the University of New England.

I started my journey to becoming a therapist when I was 18 years old and realized that my God had called me to help others overcome their struggles and heal from their pasts. After years of working with individuals to learn skills that would better their day to day lives, I realized that my clients were often held back from achieving true change due to the pains (traumas) of their past, and so I pursued specialized trainings in trauma therapies. It is my ultimate belief that by healing from our past and present struggles, human beings are better able to make long lasting change in their lives.

I moved to Grand Rapids in March 2019 with my wife, from Phoenix, Arizona. I am originally from Indiana, and after several years in Phoenix, decided that I wanted to move back to the Midwest. After learning about the life changing work that was being done at Health for Life Grand Rapids, my wife and I decided to move to Grand Rapids to be a part of that work.

If you are an individual suffering from the pains of your past (anxiety, depression, etc.), a parent of a young child suffering from trauma, a parent looking to learn more about raising healthy neurotypical children, or an individual struggling with your own spiritual walk, then you are who I am looking for!
